Selected Indicative Rates for Construction Works (June 2021)
A. General Notes
(1). These rates shall be published periodically by the CIDB.
(2). The rates are indicative only and have to be used with care. Depending on the nature of the works, these rates may be adjusted to suit project requirements.
B. Prices for Work Items
(1). The rates for Work Items (except for specialist works in which case all-in prices have been obtained) have been worked out from first principles from the prices of the basic resources (viz. labour, materials and plant/equipment), output of labour and plant/equipment with respect to various tasks and various industry variables (e.g. transportation, wastage and sundry allowables) collected from the various stakeholders through Survey Questionnaires and/or face-to-face meetings. The data have been processed using Candy Software produced by Construction Computer Software (CCS) of South Africa.
(2). The rates therefore include the costs of labour, materials, plant/equipment (as applicable) inclusive of allowance for wastage, associated transportation, head office overheads & profit.
(3). However, the rates exclude any other allowances such as Preliminaries or Attendance & Profit which are to be assessed by users based on particularities of a project. The Rates are also exclusive of Value Added Tax (VAT).
(4). The rates are meant to be used as guide or benchmark by users. Specific circumstances relevant to a project may be factored in the rates and/or the Preliminaries, as applicable, in the computation of overall cost of a project by end users.
